Workshop "Urban Grids and Microgrids" organised by IMDEA Energía on 29th of September
This Workshop, within the framework of the PROMINT-CM project, will address and discuss the main challenges of the development of urban electricity grids and the decarbonisation of railway networks, the opportunities provided by the integration of renewables into the energy markets and the development of technical solutions: power electronics converters, storage systems and management algorithms.
XVII Social Council Award for the Transfer of Knowledge University of Alcalá
On 8 June 2020, the 17th University-Society Knowledge Transfer Award of the Social Council of the University of Alcalá was granted to the GEISER Research Group participating in the PROMINT programme.

Science and Innovation Week 2021: Visit to the smart photovoltaic power plant organised by GEISER group
A visit to the small photovoltaic generation facility installed in the Department of Electronics of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá was organised on 12 November as part of the activities carried out on the occasion of the XXI Science and Innovation Week, organised by the Community of Madrid through the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation.

Smart Grid Configuration in Railway Infrastructure: Meeting for collaboration between PROMINT and ADIF
Milan Prodanovic from IMDEA Energía and Emilio Bueno from the University of Alcalá, held a meeting with José Conrado Martínez, Head of R&D&I Project Development at ADIF, on 19 May 2021 to establish the work to be carried out to collaborate in ADIF's proposal for the configuration of smart grids in the railway infrastructure.

Researchers of the PROMINT project awarded by the Campus of International Excellence "Intelligent Energy"
On 17 December, the prizes awarded by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and the Universidad de Alcalá in the field of the Campus of International Excellence 'Intelligent Energy' were presented. The awards have five categories and aim to support, promote and encourage research in the field of 'Intelligent Energy', whose basic pillars are 'Clean Energy Technologies' and 'Smart Cities'.

The PROMINT Scientific-Technical Sub-Committee met last week to present the most relevant developments so far.
At this meeting, held on 10 October, the most relevant results obtained so far by each of the research groups and the services offered by the laboratories were presented, both to the rest of the project groups and to the companies associated with the project.
Installed renewable capacity to quadruple this decade, says UN report
According to the report "Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2019", published by UN Environment ahead of its Climate Action Summit, installed renewable energy capacity (excluding large hydropower) from 2010 to 2019 will have quadrupled from 414 GW at the end of 2009 to just over 1,650 GW when the decade closes at the end of this year.
Mini-grids could power 500 million people, says World Bank report
According to a new World Bank report, by 2030 at the latest, mini-grids, previously considered a solution for specific needs, will be able to supply 500 million people with electricity and thus help bridge the energy gap.
