The last meeting of the scientific-technical subcommittee of the PROMINT programme was held on 25 April 2023 at the Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá.

One of the objectives of the PROMINT programme is the incorporation of young researchers into its research groups, both predoctoral and postdoctoral. 

The fourth Meeting of the Scientific-Technical Sub-Committee of the PROMINT programme was held on the 2nd of December to present the 2022 results for each of the research groups and laboratories.

The companies Iberdrola (i-DE), ADIF, Deloitte, Huawei and B5tec participated in the Workshop "Urban networks and microgrids" held at IMDEA Energía on 29 September 2022, and the results of our PROMINT project were presented.

This Workshop, within the framework of the PROMINT-CM project, will address and discuss the main challenges of the development of urban electricity grids and the decarbonisation of railway networks, the opportunities provided by the integration of renewables into the energy markets and the development of technical solutions: power electronics converters, storage systems and management algorithms.

On 8 June 2020, the 17th University-Society Knowledge Transfer Award of the Social Council of the University of Alcalá was granted to the GEISER Research Group participating in the PROMINT programme.

In 2021, two of the Master's Theses (TFM) directed by PROMINT researchers have been recognised for their excellence and quality.

A visit to the small photovoltaic generation facility installed in the Department of Electronics of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá was organised on 12 November as part of the activities carried out on the occasion of the XXI Science and Innovation Week, organised by the Community of Madrid through the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation.

The third meeting of the Scientific-Technical Subcommittee of the PROMINT programme was held on 28 October 2021 and the results of this year's programme were presented by each of the research groups and laboratories.

The Workshop "Smart Urban Microgrids", organised by Institute IMDEA Energy in webinar format, was held on 22 September to present the results and progress achieved by the PROMINT programme for each of the objectives established at the start of this programme in 2019.

This event is aimed at researchers and postgraduate students from entities participating in the PROMINT-CM project.

Milan Prodanovic from IMDEA Energía and Emilio Bueno from the University of Alcalá, held a meeting with José Conrado Martínez, Head of R&D&I Project Development at ADIF, on 19 May 2021 to establish the work to be carried out to collaborate in ADIF's proposal for the configuration of smart grids in the railway infrastructure.

On 11 December 2020, the second meeting of the PROMINT Scientific and Technical Sub-Committee was held to present the latest results since the start of the PROMINT programme in 2019.

PROMINT-CM project (Comunidad de Madrid Smart Microgrid Programme) is a finalist in the enerTIC Awards 2020 after the vote of the expert committee formed by the associated companies and the Institutional Collaboration Network of the EnerTIC Platform.

Francisco Javier Rodríguez Sánchez, coordinator of PROMINT, was interviewed on 23 October at the EnerTIC Platform on the occasion of the nomination of the project as a finalist in the enerTIC Awards.

On 17 December, the prizes awarded by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and the Universidad de Alcalá in the field of the Campus of International Excellence 'Intelligent Energy' were presented. The awards have five categories and aim to support, promote and encourage research in the field of 'Intelligent Energy', whose basic pillars are 'Clean Energy Technologies' and 'Smart Cities'.

The PROMINT Scientific-Technical Sub-Committee met last week to present the most relevant developments so far.

At this meeting, held on 10 October, the most relevant results obtained so far by each of the research groups and the services offered by the laboratories were presented, both to the rest of the project groups and to the companies associated with the project.

According to the report "Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2019", published by UN Environment ahead of its Climate Action Summit, installed renewable energy capacity (excluding large hydropower) from 2010 to 2019 will have quadrupled from 414 GW at the end of 2009 to just over 1,650 GW when the decade closes at the end of this year.

According to a new World Bank report, by 2030 at the latest, mini-grids, previously considered a solution for specific needs, will be able to supply 500 million people with electricity and thus help bridge the energy gap.
