Science and Innovation Week 2021: Visit to the smart photovoltaic power plant organised by GEISER group

A visit to the small photovoltaic generation facility installed in the Department of Electronics of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Alcalá was organised on 12 November as part of the activities carried out on the occasion of the XXI Science and Innovation Week, organised by the Community of Madrid through the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation.

The activity was developed in 6 sessions of 20 minutes each and was attended by a total of 92 people, students of ESO, Bachillerato y Ciclos Formativos. During the visit to the installation, some of the researchers from the GEISER research group, participants in the PROMINT project, explained to the attendees the associated electronics used for efficient integration into the conventional electricity grid.

The Madrid Science and Innovation Week is an event of scientific dissemination and citizen participation organised by the Community of Madrid through the Fundación para el Conocimiento Madri+d whose objective is to actively involve citizens in science, technology and innovation.

The XXI Madrid Science and Innovation Week was held from 1 to 14 November 2021, with the following objectives: to attract new audiences, who were initially distanced from science; to involve new agents and institutions in the scientific process; and to make science more visible, taking it out of the places where it is done and into public spaces.
