Abstract:
Distributed generation has remarkably increased along the last years being connected along with local loads to the distribution network. The micro-grid formed by the local loads and the DG sources can be disconnected from the distribution network for several reason. In this paper, the Universal Wind Turbine (WT) concept is introduced. The operation in both Grid-Connected and Stand-Alone operation modes is supported by the Universal WT, so that the continuous supply to local loads is assured. To that effect, the droop control is used in both operation modes without commutating the control scheme providing power quality and load sharing between the different micro-grid DP sources connected in parallel. Besides, it is employed for detecting the islanding condition.
